The marathon and half marathon at the 2014 Gay Games presented by the Cleveland Foundation will be run in Akron through the streets of the city. 2014 Gay Games expects over 600 runners of all skill levels to take part in this challenging event. The Akron Marathon course is a USA Track and Field-certified course.
This event will have age groups within the mens and womens divisions. The best three times in each genders age group will receive a medal. A participants age group is determined by that persons age as of the first day of competition, Sunday, 9 August 2014. The age groups are as follows: 18-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-95, 95-99, 100+
A participant may compete only in the Marathon or Half Marathon and only in one age division.
The Marathon must be completed within six hours and the Half Marathon within 3.5 hours.
Participants in the Marathon and Half Marathon will receive a bib with a B-Tag timing chip. Bib colors and numbers will be differentiated to designate Marathon and Half Marathon participants.
