Description
Race for Rehab is a unique race held on New York Medical College's campus. Participants can run this 5k or 10k race on a certified running route. The race is also open for hand cyclists. The Race for Rehab is put on to benefit Achilles International, an organization that helps disabled athletes become active through walking, running, swimming and biking. DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
From New England: Take the New England Thruway (I-95) or Merritt/Hutchinson River Parkway south to the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287) west. Continue west on I-287 (toward the Tappan Zee Bridge) to Exit 3-the Sprain Brook Parkway north. Continue north (straight, left lane) on the Sprain Brook Parkway to Rt. 100/ Westchester Medical Center (second exit). Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Hospital Rd. Continue straight onto Peripheral Rd. Take the New England Thruway (I-95) or Merritt/Hutchinson River Parkway south to the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287) west. Continue west on I-287 (toward the Tappan Zee Bridge) to Exit 3-the Sprain Brook Parkway north. Continue north (straight, left lane) on the Sprain Brook Parkway to Rt. 100/ Westchester Medical Center (second exit). Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Hospital Rd. Continue straight onto Peripheral Rd.
From East Side of New York City and Long Island: Take the Major Deegan Expressway (I-87) which becomes the New York Thruway north to the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287). Continue east on I-287 to Exit 4. Turn left at the end of the exit ramp and cross over I-287. Take an immediate left back onto I-287 west while bearing right for Exit 3---the Sprain Brook Parkway north. Continue as in number 1 above.
From New York City, Long Island via Bronx River Parkway: Take the Bronx River Parkway north to the Sprain Brook Parkway north to Rt 100/Westchester Medical Center (second exit). Turn left at end of exit ramp on to Hospital Road. Continue straight onto Peripheral Rd.
From West Side of New York City: Take the Henry Hudson Parkway (9A) north to the Saw Mill River Parkway. Take Eastview exit 23. At the exit light, make a right (follow hospital signs) . Continue until road splits and bear left. Cross over and make a left onto Old Saw Mill Road. Make a right at the first light on to Dana Road. At stop sign, make a left onto Hammond Hill Road which becomes Sunshine Cottage Road. Pass the Alumni Building and continue on until you see the Administration Building/Sunshine Cottage on right.
From Upstate New York via the New York State Thruway south and Northern New Jersey: Cross the Tappan Zee Bridge to Exit 8, the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287). Continue east to Exit 4. Continue as in number 2 above.
From Northern Westchester and Upstate New York via the Taconic Parkway or the Saw Mill River Parkway: Take the Taconic Parkway or Saw Mill River Parkway south to the Sprain Brook Parkway. Take the first exit (Rt. 100/Westchester Medical Center) off the Sprain Brook Parkway and turn right at the end of the ramp onto Rt. 100. Proceed approximately 1/4 mile to College entrance on the right (Hospital Rd.). Continue straight onto Peripheral Rd.
From Upstate New York via I-684: Take I-684 south to the Saw Mill River Parkway and continue as in number 6 above or take I-684 south to the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287) west to Exit 3, the Sprain Brook Parkway. Continue as in number 1 above.
From Southern Westchester via the Bronx River Parkway: Take the Bronx River Parkway north to Virginia Rd. exit (the fourth traffic light after County Center in White Plains). Turn left onto Virginia Rd. to the fork at Rt. 100. Turn right onto Rt. 100 and continue past Westchester Community College to the intersection of Rt. 100 and Bradhurst Rd. Turn right onto Bradhurst Rd. and proceed 1.4 miles to College entrance on left (Hospital Rd.). Continue straight onto Peripheral Rd.

From NYC: Transportation is available from NYC via MetroNorth to Valhalla, White Plains, or North White Plains Station. From the MetroNorth station, NYMC campus can be accessed either via Bee Line bus or a cab.
